About Diablo

Portrait of Javier Jimeno, photographer.

I have been making and consuming photography for as long as I can remember. I work professionally as a photographer, but there is a personal space where nobody dictates to me: I react to what surrounds me with a camera in my hand, I come up with ideas and look for accomplices to give shape to my projects, I slip through the cracks of places locked with a thousand padlocks to reach worlds usually hidden from outside eyes. And I love what I do!

I find it hard to define myself, because labels chafe. I don't want to limit myself, however many subjects and techniques I happen to be particularly good at. That is why my style is to play and to fly, to take what life hands me, to walk slowly in order to see better and to turn my head and catch a different view of the road.

Light is my tool: its intensity, its absence, its tone, the shadows it is unable to cover. I am fascinated by how one same situation changes radically depending on how you apply or meter the light in your camera.
